Our Humble 1880’s Cabin

The old cabin on our 7 acre property was originally built in the late 1800’s, by the Cison family. Clifford Cison (1943-2008) remembered visiting his uncle Harrison Cison (1890-1957) at the cabin when Clifford was a boy. The cabin was apparently one room, until it was expanded in the late 1930’s, probably by Harrison Cison. We believe the chimney to be the original one.

The earliest maps we have of the area, from the 1930’s, show only one other cabin in the neighborhood at that time. That other cabin was by what is now TJ Wilson Lake, and may have been torn down when the lake was made, as there is no trace of it now.

Our cabin has been a labor of love and is completely renovated. When we bought it in 2017 it was very cute but not livable. It is now rebuilt and up to current building codes. We have kept as many of the original features as possible in order to maintain the charm of the cabin while making it a comfortable guest house.

Entering the cabin through the front porch, you will find a family room/dining area with kitchenette. There is a laundry area and a fully renovated bathroom.  The back room has a comfy sectional sofa that converts into a full size bed, as well as a large screen TV equipped with Apple TV, closet space, and French doors overlooking a small deck. The large room upstairs has a Queen sized memory foam bed and a twin size bed, as well as a dresser, desk and a large picture window overlooking our beautiful property. There is high-speed Fiber-Optic Internet and Verizon cell phone service. In case of failure (ie: Hurricane Helene & other storms), we have Starlink & a Generator for backup.
