
The Lake Hondah Community was brainchild of Blaise Jacques. Initially owned by the Larson family (Henry & Hortense) Lake Hondah was initially sold to Blaise and sectioned off in 1973 as a religious camp / retreat for the Worldwide Church of God. It was then developed and incorporated as Lake Hondah in 1987 in 2 Phases & 3 Sections. There are 28 homes and 51 empty lots in the association.
In addition to the lots there is T.J. Wilson Lake and a pond that are surrounded by 5 acres of parkland common areas.
Before it became a planned community it was a campground owned & operated by Henry & Hortense Larson, the Larson’s’ were friends of TJ Wilson and visited them often from Florida before buying the property we now know as Lake Hondah from portions of TJ Wilsons & Furman Cisons Lands (the deed documents are a bit difficult to comprehend). Henry & Hortense created “Camp Hon-Dah” in the mid 1960s:

The word “Hon-Dah” in the Apache language, means “welcome to my home”.
Hondah is also a place in Navajo County, Arizona, United States, on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation (population was 812 in 2010).
